Programs
HEAL Collaborative connects communities to a wide variety of medical treatment options that support individual and population health management. We understand that teaching underserved communities about accessing services and resources improves overall health standards and health outcomes. Participants in our programs report increased knowledge about health and diseases affecting themselves or their community and increased confidence in their ability to manage and advocate for their healthcare needs. HEAL Collaborative speakers and educators have presented dozens of educational forums and reached over 50,000 people in underserved communities.
In addition to traditional treatment options, HEAL Collaborative educational forums demystify clinical research, explaining the consequences of failing to achieve fair representation in clinical trials and the reasons for the lack of minority involvement. We also address limited access to specialists or specialty care centers that serve as referral sources, fear of exploitation, potential unintended outcomes, stigmatization, and discrimination.
“The patient panel was wonderful! We learned so much and their personal stories were so impactful, everyone including the physicians publicly expressed their authentic empathy.” – Feedback from an event attendee
